Capella University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), 30 N. LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504, (312) 263-0456, www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org.
Capella only offers accredited campus and online degree programs. Accreditation gives assurance that you will be able to attain the same high quality education as you would in a traditional classroom. Without accreditation by a nationally recognized accredited agency, a college or university is not eligible to participate in government federal financial aid or grant programs. In addition, if you intend to transfer into another college, you will only be able to do so if you attended an accredited college or university.
Accreditation is a process by which a facility's services and operations are examined by a third-party accrediting agency. Should the facility meet the accrediting agency's standards, the facility receives accredited status from the accrediting agency.
In the United States, the term is most often used with reference to schools and hospitals, neither of which are directly accredited by the federal government. Instead, accreditation is performed by private nonprofit bodies known as accreditors. These accreditors ensure that schools meet certain standards. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation oversees accrediting agencies and provides guidelines as well as resources and relevant data. Source: www.Wikipedia.org

The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) is a non-profit accreditation agency recognized by Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the United States Department of Education. The DETC accredits correspondence study distance learning programs that have been in existence for at least two years. Many regionally accredited schools accept and recognize the accreditations of the DETC.
